History:

1. The Wodeyars of Mysore had a chequered history and began their rule as a laudatory power under Vijaynagar Empire. Having established their power in the 15th Century, the Wodeyars continued for long after the Battle of Talikota and ruled until 1757, when during the reign of Kantheerava Narasaraj Wodeyar II, Hyder Ali who in the service of the King’s army, usurped the throne and declared himself the King. Srirangapattana was the earlier capital of the Wodeyars, which later on was transferred to Mysore.
2. Under the Dewanship of Stalwarts like Pumaiah, Sir Mokshagundaum Vishveshwaraya, Sir Mirja M. Ismail and others, the benevolent and cultured rule of the Wodeyars made rapid and remarkable progress in art and literature, trade and commerce, irrigation, industry, railways and communications, etc.
3. Bangalore, known as the “City of Gardens”, the Kannamabadi Dam, the Brindavan Gardens, the Mysore Palace, the Annual Dasara Procession, etc. speaks highly of the cultural taste and patronage of the Wodeyars.
4. During the British regime, the princely Mysore State was considered to be a “Model State” in India and Mahatma Gandhi called it “Rama Rajya”.

We The Royal Wodeyarsare Invincible. This Academic year 2019-2020 had many ups and downs for Royals. The motto of our house 'SECOND TO NONE' is a trait imbibed in every royal. We started with good note by clinching Gold Medal in Football Tournament both in Jrs and Srs. We were third in Athletics. As the saying goes 'The power of the pen is not in the colour of ink it spills; but the power of the word it spells', royals are the role model to others in academics. It is given the top most priority here. We have 6 star holders among them Cadet. Srujan is single golden star Holder. Royals are known for conquering the dais, we were first in Kannada debate competition. First in English debate where Cdt.Srujan and Cdt.Vineet secured 2nd and 3rd positionsrespectively. We also secured First position in Kannada Elocution for Jrs wherein Cdt.SumitL.N. and Cadet Siddarth secured 1st And 2ndpositionsrespectively. In south zone championship14 Royals actively participated.Among them Cadet Yuvrajwas captain of Hockeyteam. We were also proud to produce Great athletes such as Cdt.Abhishek and Cdt.AmanRaj. Cdt.Aman Raj secured gold in both 100m and 200m sprint. Cdt.Abhishek bagged gold in both Long Jump and Triple Jump.Cdt. Ashutosh of class 6th bagged gold in both 1500m and cross country race. Our enthusiastic and energetic juniors are like properly carved pearls. Our juniors were champions in football tournament. As discipline is the bedrock of Sainik School, we were 2ndrunners up in Drill competition and 5 cadets of class 11th attended the Army attachment camp held at Secunderabad. Academic year taught us many things as we are motivated by our success and also from failure2019-20 . We hope to uphold our traditions and achieve greater heights towards the glory of our house in coming years. The saga of success of Royals is owing to guidance, encouragement and the able leadership of House masters, Hostel Superintendent and House Captain Cdt.Bharat.R Bhani.
